Miles: 22 Steps: 47,794 Elevation Gain: feet Faith in Humanity: Freda really takes the cake today! What an awesome time, and you found me on the trail! Thank you so very much for everything!!!! Wow, what a day! Camped with such a great crew last night. Ahhh, the beauty of life on the trail. So many nice people, great conversation, laughter, and genuine happiness. You can so quickly befriend people, too. I was up early and walked a leisurely trip 4 miles mostly down to a beautiful waterfall: Comey Falls. There was a woman there who looked familiar, but I couldn’t place it. Freda, a woman I met briefly in Gatlinburg, had come out to meet me! She looked at my inreach location data at walktheparks.com and came out! How awesome! Freda had bananas and these super tasty chocolate cookies. She took me to her house where I was able to shower, do laundry, eat some amazing bbq for lunch, drink some sodas, and that’s not even the best part! She was nice enough to take me to see her “Secret Waterfall” that required some off trail bushwhacking to find! How awesome. And it really was a huge, absolutely spectacular waterfall, too. Incredibly thankful to meet you! So cool and lucky to be shown around this beautiful rolling green hills area of Virginia by someone born here! Ahh, see how cool Trail life is? I felt a tiny bit guilty about not spending the night and meeting her husband, and being treated to an I’m sure incredibly amazing dinner, but the weather was sunny and clear, I felt really good, and I just plain wanted to hike. Freda dropped me off at the trail and off I went! Thanks again! I hiked quite a long ways: 14 Miles , in fact. Ended up hiking until after sunset and setting up my tent just before it got dark, I think this is the first time I’ve camped alone since I hopped on the AT! Tomorrow there’s rumors of an all you can eat buffet!
