Counting Down to the Next leg of Walk the Parks: A Winter In Aspen

February 13, 2019

What is Walk The Parks doing now?  Great question!  After 500 amazing days, which is still crazy for me to type, I decided the best thing to do for the winter was to work and save money for the next leg of Walk The Parks!

When is the next leg of Walk the Parks?  I have a plane ticket on April 15, 2019 to fly from Denver,CO  to Palm Springs, CA.  I'll then be maneuvering my way to Joshua Tree National Park where I get to start hiking again!  So extremely excited about this.  What's the plan? you can check it out at walktheparks.com/route but it basically involves connecting Joshua Tree to the Pacific Crest Trail to the Bigfoot Trail to the Pacific Northwest Trail.

What have I been doing? Trying to save money as best I can, stay in shape, and work on Walk The Parks stuff, of course.

I wrote a book! Walk The Parks: First 500 Days is currently available at walktheparks.com/shop

I love the book, I'm so happy to share photos and stories in a 10 x 10 inch format. I'd love it if you gave it a look!

Let's see, what else: I've been planning furiously. Where will I resupply, what kind of pace will I have to average to complete the whole route, what is the budgetary situation looking like, etc. etc. etc. It's a lot.  Very excited to try out some new things, too.

It has been an interesting and sometimes challenging transition back to "regular life."  I could write lots here, but I'll skip that for now.

One thing I've realized is that I haven't been able to fully represent Walk The Parks as well as I'd like to or that I think I'm capable of. I'm exploring ideas and opportunities, so we shall see.  I'm thinking maybe something audio related. You should here how excited I am and all the stories that I have to share.  I don't think they necessarily come out the best in writing because it's always 1st drafts. I'm trying to get out everything in my head from the day each day.  Hopefully I'll go back at a later point and organize things better, but 1st drafts certainly aren't the best drafts.  Anyway, hopefully I'll be able to figure something cool out!

Feel free to e-mail any questions or anything to walktheparks@gmail.com  I'd love to hear from anyone!
